Geethanjali Malli Vachindi review and rating: Does the film meet its predecessor?

Geethanjali Malli Vachindi 2 Geethanjali Malli Vachindi

The original “Geethanjali,” starring Anjali, was released in 2014 and became a massive hit, earning Anjali the prestigious Nandi Award for Best Actress for her performance in the horror comedy genre. Now, the sequel titled “Geethanjali Malli Vachindi” has hit the screens on April 11, 2024. Let’s see how the film is

Plot:

Srinivas Reddy, a struggling director, finds himself at the helm of a film project set in Sangeeth Mahal, a mansion steeped in haunting history. As he delves into the production alongside his crew and Anjali, they unknowingly become targets for vengeful spirits seeking retribution. The unfolding events within the eerie confines of Sangeeth Mahal form the gripping narrative of Geethanjali Malli Vachindi.

Performances and Technical Aspects:

Anjali, despite being in the lead role, struggles to leave a lasting impact due to underwhelming character development. Her presence feels subdued throughout, with few standout moments. It’s only in the climax that she displays a hint of intensity, but otherwise, her performance remains lackluster.

Among the ensemble cast, comedian Satya shines with his trademark humor, while others like Srinivas Reddy, Satyam Rajesh, Satya, Shakalaka Shankar, Sunil, and Ali fade into the background after the movie concludes. Even the cameo by Dil Raju fails to leave a lasting impression.

Supporting cast members deliver their roles adequately, but none leave a significant mark. Despite pivotal roles, actors like Ravi Shankar and Rahul Madhav fail to make a lasting impact, with their characters feeling overshadowed or disconnected.

Pravin Lakkaraju’s songs fail to resonate, lacking memorability even with accompanying visuals. The background score adds little freshness to the film, while cinematography by Sujatha Siddhartha and editing by Chota K Prasad fail to elevate the technical aspects significantly.

While production values by MVV Cinema and Kona Film Corporation are acceptable, Geethanjali Malli Vachindi falls short of leaving a lasting impression due to its lackluster performances and uninspired technical execution.

Analysis:

Geethanjali Malli Vachindi, presents an intriguing core plot but falls short in execution, particularly in crafting an engaging screenplay. The movie commences with a promising death scene at a software firm, yet quickly devolves into a series of overused comedy sequences until the pre-interval mark. While the concept of a film director venturing into a haunted villa for a shoot holds potential, the humor fails to land, with many conversations and jokes feeling stale.

Despite the introduction of a mysterious doll, the backstory of Sangeeth Mahal, and the inclusion of a ghostly element, along with a mid-film twist, anticipation for the second half remains hopeful. However, the latter part of the movie disappoints, offering little in terms of heightened thrills or improved humor. Instead, viewers are subjected to a succession of formulaic comedy scenes. Even the titular character portrayed by Anjali lacks standout moments, indicative of the lackluster writing throughout.

The exploration of the villain’s motive falls short, with a notable absence of surprises or engaging plot developments. The attempt at generating comedic moments through ghostly characters feels forced and outdated, failing to resonate with contemporary audiences.

Verdict :

While Geethanjali Malli Vachindi offers occasional amusement courtesy of Satya’s performance, the overall film lacks the freshness needed to sustain interest. Despite the presence of multiple comedians, it ultimately proves to be a dull and uninspired viewing experience.

Rating: 1.5/5
