DYK Trisha Krishnan’s reason for calling off wedding
Actress Trisha Krishnan, one of the leading stars in South Indian cinema, was once engaged to entrepreneur Varun Manian. The engagement took place on January 23, 2015, in a private ceremony. However, the wedding never happened, and later, Trisha openly shared the reason behind this decision.
In 2016, while promoting her film Kodi with Dhanush, Trisha was asked whether she would continue acting after marriage. Her response gave clarity about her broken engagement. She revealed that her then-fiancé had asked her to quit acting after marriage. Trisha, who is deeply passionate about her profession, chose her career over the relationship.

She said in an interview that her love for cinema was strong and she was not ready to give it up. According to Trisha, the man she was supposed to marry wanted her to leave the film industry. Instead of compromising on her dreams, she decided to call off the wedding.
Trisha mentioned that the only reason she would take a break from acting is if she became pregnant. Even in that case, she said she wouldn’t quit entirely. She would continue to do roles that suit her and her image. She expressed a strong desire to remain part of the film industry for as long as possible.
Trisha stated, “I will only take a break when I get pregnant. If I am not offered lead roles, I will do characters that match my image but I won’t leave the industry. I want to act till my last breath.”
Reports also suggest that Varun Manian’s father was not in support of the engagement. His family reportedly preferred someone from their own social background. This too might have contributed to the end of the relationship.
Currently, Trisha remains unmarried and is focused on her film career. She is working on Thug Life, a major project that also features Kamal Haasan and STR in lead roles.
