Odela 2 review and rating: Horror comes alive after the interval
Odela 2 is a supernatural horror thriller starring Tamannaah Bhatia, directed by Ashok Teja and supervised by Sampath Nandi. It continues the story from Odela Railway Station, offering more intense horror and suspense. The film hit theatres today and let’s see how film is.
Story
The film begins right after the events of Odela Railway Station. Tirupati (Vasishta N. Simha) is dead, but his soul finds no peace. The villagers perform a cruel ritual on his body, ignoring his family’s pleas. This sparks Tirupati’s spirit to return as a vengeful ghost targeting newly married women in the village.
Terrified, the villagers seek help from Shivashakti (Tamannaah Bhatia), a spiritual protector. She returns to Odela to stop the ghost, joined by her sister Radha (Hebah Patel). The story then follows Shivashakti’s battle against Tirupati’s powerful spirit and the challenges she faces to bring peace to the village.
Performances and Technical Side
Tamannaah enters the film midway but gives a strong performance, especially in emotional scenes. Hebah Patel has a short but important role. Vasishta mostly appears through voiceovers, which may feel underwhelming. Murali Sharma’s role is minimal.
Director Ashok Teja presents the horror well, but the screenplay lacks tightness. Sampath Nandi’s guidance adds some thrill. Music by Ajaneesh Loknath is decent, and the visual effects are average and could have been better.
Final Thoughts
The first half is slow with emotional backstories, but the second half picks up with engaging horror scenes. Some scenes seem inspired by other films, which affects originality. Still, the climax is satisfying.
Verdict: A decent horror thriller with strong second half.
