When Nagarjuna walked away from iconic roles

Akkineni Nagarjuna, a legendary name in Telugu cinema, has won hearts for decades. Known for his charming screen presence and versatile roles, Nagarjuna has built a strong career filled with memorable performances. But did you know there are some superhit movies he turned down?

Yes, even big stars have to make tough decisions. Let’s look at some top movies rejected by Nagarjuna that later became major successes.

Acclaimed director Mani Ratnam once approached Nagarjuna for roles in Mouna Ragam, Gharshana, and Dalapathi. Due to schedule conflicts or script differences, Nagarjuna had to decline. Later, Dalapathi starred Arvind Swamy and became a classic.

Another notable film is Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. Originally, the team wanted Nagarjuna as the lead. However, he opted out, and the film went on to feature Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh, turning into a blockbuster.

Even director Ram Gopal Varma wanted to cast Nagarjuna in a mythological film called Ramayanam. Sadly, the movie never took off because Nagarjuna wasn’t convinced about the project.

Interestingly, the popular movie Badri, which boosted Pawan Kalyan’s career, was first offered to Nagarjuna. Despite director Puri Jagannadh’s efforts, Nagarjuna passed on it. Fans still wonder why he skipped it, as it became one of Puri’s biggest hits.

Although he rejected some iconic films, Nagarjuna delivered timeless hits like Shiva, Annamayya, and Geethanjali. Every actor has a few missed chances, but that doesn’t overshadow Nagarjuna’s massive contribution to Telugu cinema.

With his 100th film around the corner, fans are excited to see what’s next. One thing is sure – Nagarjuna’s career remains an inspiring journey filled with both bold choices and blockbuster moments.
