Suriya’s Retro box office collection day 2
Suriya’s latest movie Retro hit theatres on May 1, 2025 and opened with a strong collection of Rs. 19 crore on Day 1. The film is an action drama starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The story revolves around a retired gangster who tries to live a peaceful life for his wife but gets pulled back into trouble.
The second day showed slower growth. Retro collected Rs. 3.37 crore bringing the total to Rs. 22.37 crore. The film is performing decently overseas as well earning Rs. 10 crore so far.
When compared to the first day footfalls dropped by half on Day 2. The occupancy rate on Friday was lower around 24% in the morning and just over 42% in the afternoon and evening shows. This is quite a drop from Day 1 which had nearly 76% in the morning and over 83% in the afternoon.
However its box office pace needs to pick up over the weekend to stay strong. Many fans are now waiting to see how the film will perform in Saturday and Sunday shows.
Meanwhile Retro is set to release digitally on Netflix although an official OTT release date hasn’t been announced yet. It will be available in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Actor Varun Dhawan praised the film and especially Suriya’s performance. He shared his review on social media calling it entertaining and fun.
