Why Actress Nayanthara Has Few Friends in the Film Industry
Nayanthara is one of the biggest female stars in the South Indian film industry. She started her journey with the Malayalam movie Manassinakkare in 2003, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. Since then, she has appeared in many successful films and gained a strong fan following.
Her career got a major boost when she acted with superstar Rajinikanth in Chandramukhi. That movie helped her gain a lot of popularity and made her a bankable star. Over the years, Nayanthara has worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films, and eventually made her Bollywood debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan.
Recently, an old interview of hers from Kairali TV came into the spotlight. In the interview, Nayanthara talked about her personal life and relationships in the film world. She revealed that she doesn’t have many friends in the industry.
“I only maintain professional relationships with my co-stars,” she said. “I prefer to keep my personal connections limited to people I truly know. I give a lot of value to friendship, but only a few people really know me.”
She further explained that her real friends are the ones who would always be there for her, no matter what. “In my life, there are maybe two or three people I can truly call my friends. They know everything about me. If I ever need help, I know they will come immediately,” she said.
According to Nayanthara, it is difficult to build close friendships in the film industry. This is because actors don’t work with the same team in every film. Once the shoot ends, they often don’t see each other until some party or event.
When asked about competition in the industry, she said it exists everywhere—from Malayalam to Bollywood. “There’s competition among both male and female actors. But it’s not always healthy,” she mentioned.
She believes the best way to grow as an actor is to compete with oneself, not others. “The roles we get are all different. Instead of comparing ourselves to others, we should try to improve with every movie. Even a 1% improvement matters,” Nayanthara added.
On the work front, Nayanthara was last seen in the movie Test, where she starred alongside R. Madhavan and Siddharth. The film received attention for its unique storyline and performances.
Nayanthara’s words show that even in a glamorous industry like cinema, it’s important to stay grounded. Her honesty about friendships, competition, and personal growth gives fans a deeper look into her personality beyond the screen.
